Cascade Elementary School Orchestra for 2017 - 2018
Rehearsals and Eligibility
We will meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 5, 2017. Rehearsals will go from 3:45 - 4:45 pm in the gym.
Students should practice their instrument every day. While there will not be a specific time requirement for home practice, the expectation is every day. 5 minutes of everyday practice is worth more than one day of 30 minutes.
Students must be in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade to participate in Orchestra. Some exceptions might be made for younger students who have prior experience. If you would like to discuss your child's participation before 4th grade, send a message to Mr. Findlay to discuss.
Cost and Materials
The cost for orchestra this year is $50.00 per student. This fee will cover the entire year.
Students will need an instrument to play in orchestra. Instruments are available for rent or purchase at Summerhays Music in Orem.
Students will also need the String Explorer method book 1. These books can be purchased online or at any local music store and cost approximately $8.00.

Hello everyone I'm Mr. Findlay. I am excited for the chance to work with your students again in the Cascade Orchestra. I look forward to a great year.
About Mr. Findlay
I received my musical education from Snow College and Brigham Young University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Education. I have been honored to perform with various orchestras such as The American Festival Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, Nachtmusik under the direction of Dr. Marden Pond, as well as college and university orchestras. I have performed in many cities across the western U.S. and Europe. I have previously taught 5th - 12th grade orchestra in the public school system along with my private studio with ages ranging from 5 years old to adults.
